I love making cushion covers and have done quite a few over the years, this one was inspired by my friend giving me some totally gorgeous material.
I decided to make a cover for a 50th birthday gift. A very lovely lady who has two gorgeous children, a perfect family of four and I thought using her family’s initials would be good.
So on a Saturday I opened up the dining room table, got out my sewing machine, favourite radio station on, coffee pot full and all this lovely material laid out and then starting planning…I cut the letters out of material backed with bonding fabric. Once ironed in place, I decided to go around the letters with my favourite embroidery stitch in a nice bright yellow embroidery thread – chain stitch
Then I used the, new to me, pre-cut trimming which is iron-on but I took my friend’s advice and stitched it on too.
The cushion was presented today and I’m think I’m safe in saying it went down well.
I love giving and receiving home made gifts.
My daughter recently gave me this little cloth bag… do you like her embroidery?
