Patchwork…

I love making cushion covers and have done quite a few over the years, this one was inspired by my friend giving me some totally gorgeous material.

I decided to make a cover for a 50th birthday gift.  A very lovely lady who has two gorgeous children, a perfect family of four and I thought using her family’s initials would be good.

So on a Saturday I opened up the dining room table, got out my sewing machine, favourite radio station on, coffee pot full and all this lovely material laid out and then starting planning…img_7701.jpgI cut the letters out of material backed with bonding fabric. Once ironed in place, I decided to go around the letters with my favourite embroidery stitch in a nice bright yellow embroidery thread – chain stitch

The cushion was presented today and I’m think I’m safe in saying it went down well.
I love giving and receiving home made gifts.

My daughter recently gave me this little cloth bag… do you like her embroidery?
